Unlocking new insights and driving impact measurement innovation for Native CDFIs

Join Andrea Mader and Sienko for an engaging, hands-on workshop designed to breathe new life into the Native CDFI Impact Tracking Matrix. This interactive session provides an opportunity for collaboration, learning, and practical application, helping Native CDFIs enhance their data collection and storytelling capabilities. By working together to update key metrics and indicators, you’ll ensure the matrix remains a powerful tool for tracking and communicating the unique impacts of Native CDFIs.

Our impact tracking matrix is the go-to guide for data collection, analysis, and reporting across the Native CDFI industry.

Why attend?

Collaborate: Work with peers to refine the Impact Matrix, ensuring it meets modern needs and reflects community priorities.

Learn: Discover how CDFIs have effectively used impact matrices to drive results in reports and assessments.

Grow: Enhance your toolkit for data collection and impact storytelling, transforming how your organization communicates its value.

Connect: Network with other Native CDFIs and allies, exchanging ideas on best practices for impact measurement.

Workshop agenda

9–9:15 a.m. | Introductions & orientation
Kick off the workshop by learning about your fellow attendees. Learn about the history of the Native CDFI Impact Matrix, with case studies from NACDC’s Annual Report and FBCF’s Business Assessment showing real-world matrix utilization.

9:15–9:40 a.m. | Interactive matrix voting
Participate in a hands-on activity to better understand what data metrics Native CDFIs commonly collect. We’ll explore the gaps and strengths in current data collection, discussing key questions like:

  • What impact areas are we missing?

  • How can we better combine quantitative data with qualitative, lived experiences?

This activity encourages participants to think critically about the power of storytelling through data and how to fill existing gaps.

9:40–10:05 a.m. | Crafting impact statements to highlight the “why”
In small groups, participants will create three impact stories based on existing data, demonstrating the “so what” factor—how outputs lead to meaningful outcomes.

10:05–10:15 a.m. | Conclusion: Maximizing the Impact Matrix
Wrap up the session by discussing how the updated matrix can be a transformative tool for CDFIs:

  • Establishing a baseline for tracking and reporting impact

  • Helping CDFIs think more strategically about data collection

  • Supporting Indigenous-led industry-level reporting

  • Providing smaller or newer CDFIs with templates and frameworks for rapid adoption
