Find Your Story: Texas Indigenous Data Sovereignty Study

Texas Tribal Buffalo Project

In partnership with Texas Tribal Buffalo Project, this study used culturally based methodologies to support community revitalization, data stewardship, and strategic partnerships. The purpose of the study was to deepen the understanding of Indigenous peoples' connections to Texas while gathering essential data on food, health, identity, lifeways, and economic conditions. The findings informed actionable strategies to improve access to services and opportunities for Indigenous-led initiatives. These efforts also helped develop a longitudinal database to strengthen long-term advocacy and support for Indigenous peoples with ties to Texas. The resulting final report serves as a blueprint for taking sustainable strides in cultivating new partnerships, programs, and services, advancing progress toward Indigenous data sovereignty.
