Cheyenne River voices: Our survey, our voice, our way
Cheyenne River Tribal Ventures
Cheyenne River Sioux Tribal Ventures was a 10-year poverty reduction and community development initiative launched in 2006 by the Cheyenne River Sioux Tribe in South Dakota, backed by the Northwest Area Foundation. It focused on data-driven progress tracking, youth internships, and community asset grants.
-
After being overlooked by federal census data, the Cheyenne River Sioux Tribe launched its own survey in 2014, the first of its kind for the reservation. Our role was to assist in the management, methods, and reporting of the survey. Designed for the community, by the community, the research gathered data on a range of social, cultural, and economic factors, and informed the development of a blueprint for economic success called The People's Plan. The survey results continue to provide baseline data for tracking the impact of economic initiatives over time.
-
