Strategic plan for tribal housing in the Southwest
Tribal Homeownership Coalition of the Southwest
The Tribal Homeownership Coalition of the Southwest is a regional collaborative that brings together tribal housing authorities, practitioners, and partners to advance Native homeownership across the Southwest. Through peer learning, technical assistance, and relationship-building, the Coalition works to strengthen housing systems that are culturally grounded, community-driven, and responsive to regional needs.

As THOCSW expanded its regional footprint and entered new leadership, the Coalition began shaping a clearer vision for its next chapter. Members and partners saw an opportunity to strengthen engagement, deepen policy advocacy, build more consistent communications, and establish the internal structures needed to support long-term growth. Our role was to guide the strategic planning process, helping translate that vision into a practical roadmap for growth.
-
Develop the Coalition’s first strategic plan under new leadership.
Clarify its role within the broader Native homeownership ecosystem.
Support geographic expansion and alignment across New Mexico and Arizona.
Strengthen collaboration, communication, and shared direction among Coalition members and partners.
-
This strategic planning process gave THOCSW a clearer path for how it will grow its impact across the Southwest. With defined priorities around member capacity building, communications, policy advocacy, and coalition infrastructure, THOCSW is strengthening its role as a trusted convener, resource hub, and advocate for tribal homeownership. Centering relationship building and community-defined priorities, the Coalition is helping create stronger pathways to homeownership that support safety, sovereignty, and long-term community resilience.
